It's a miracle these kittens are still alive. They were born with serious disabilities and their original owners left all three of them to die at a landfill just hours after they were born. Each had massive deformities in their legs.
Luckily, attentive employees at the landfill found these little guys and passed them on to Laura and her granddaughter who took the animals in and nourished them. "I felt like they could make it and that they were worth a try," said the granddaughter in an interview.
Unfortunately, one of the siblings didn't make it. She died during her first night in her new home. The other two, Curly Sue and Pretzel, continued to grow despite their abnormalities. They started to eat, meow, and bounce around - just like ordinary kittens.
But the smaller of the two survivors, Curly Sue, still wasn't strong enough to make it. Her death really impacted Pretzel. The two kittens were inseparable. Thankfully, Pretzel had the heart of a fighter: She kept eating and growing. "She knew she could do it," reported Laura. "She wasn't just any old cat."
Eight months later, Pretzel finally found a forever home. A young woman who was hoping to adopt a cat came across a video of Pretzel on Youtube. "I immediately fell in love with her," she said.
When the two were introduced for the first time, it was instantly clear that Pretzel would be adopted. "I wanted to take care of her and make her feel loved and secure." A deep trust and palpable warmth developed between the pair. Although it was challenging for the new cat owner to take Preztel in, she is absolutely overjoyed that she did.
It's not common for animals to need us this much. Here you can watch Pretzel's whole story:
A truly moving and heart-warming story. Thank goodness Pretzel was found and cared for by compassionate humans who understood her special needs.
