What happened to this baby was truly a medical miracle
#1 Carolyn and Rachel
Carolyn Isbister’s baby, Rachel, weighed 20 ounces when she was born. Her baby wasn’t doing well, as her heart was beating very slowly and she wasn’t breathing. Being told by the doctors that Rachel only had some minutes to live, Carolyn decided to give her daughter a last cuddle. She remembers that Rachel’s feet were very cold, and that the baby let out a tiny cry.

But suddenly, her skin color slowly came back and she began to warm up. According to one of the hospital’s neonatologists: “All the signs were that the little one was not going to make it and we took the decision to let mum have a cuddle, as it was all we could do. “Two hours later the wee thing was crying. This is indeed a miracle baby and I have seen nothing like it in my 27 years of practice. I have not the slightest doubt that mother’s love saved her daughter.”
#3 Recovery
But Rachel had a long recovery process ahead. Five months after giving birth, Carolyn was able to bring her baby home. Her weight had gone up to 8 pounds and she was healthier than ever! “She is doing so well. When we brought her home, the doctors told us that she was a remarkable little girl. And most of all, she just loves her cuddles. She will sleep for hours, just curled into my chest. It was that first cuddle which saved her life – and I’m just so glad I trusted my instinct and picked her up when I did. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be here today,” Carolyn mentioned.
