Jalue Dorje is a 9-year-old kid living in Minnesota who the Dalai Lama pronounced as the reincarnation of the 8th Terchen Taksham Rinpoche.
Right after Jalue was born in 2006 his mother had a dream of a white mother elephant and a white baby elephant. And his mother told her local Buddhist priest this and the word finally made it’s way to the Dalai Lama. And the Dalai Lama had many dreams of Tigers roaming through Jalue’s home and this means great strength. And after a long period of time, the Dalai Lama decided that Jalue was the reincarnation of the 8th Terchen Taksham Rinpoche.
Jalue is a typical 9-year-old, but he has a very busy schedule. He has prayers to do first in the morning, and then he goes to school, and then comes back, and then more prayers, and then learning Chinese and other languages, and memorizing long groups of Tibetan texts and chanting, and meditation, and more. But Jalue likes playing sports like soccer and swimming and doing things with his friends… but Jalue doesn’t have that much extra time to play.
For an average 9-year-old, Jalue’s schedule would probably be overwhelming, but Jalue likes it. And Jalue knows that soon he’ll leave for India to be with the Dalai Lama for at least 10 years. And then Jalue will go back to Minnesota which has the 2nd largest Tibetan community in the US.
Jalue said it’s hard to leave his parents but it’s very important to be in Tibet. Jalue takes everything in stride and loves every moment.
Jalue believes his work and study is very important because he is a spiritual leader in the Tibetan Community… and thus Jalue will spread love and kindness around the world.
This young boy has a very grownup attitude about life.
But he’s also a smiling, industrious, average 9-year-old boy.
Many Blessings to you Jalue!
