Buddhist Monk Robbed And Beaten At His Oklahoma Farm

An elderly Buddhist monk in Oklahoma was brutally and nearly killed by two thieves on Friday afternoon. The thieves went to the monk’s farm and beat him with a pipe before robbing his house and leaving him for dead. The monk, known only as Tony, was unconscious for almost 24 hours before he awoke and called 911. He was recently released from the hospital after being treated for his injuries.

Tony runs an animal rescue facility on his farm. His farm is home to 13 horses, eight dogs and various other animals. Tony’s neighbor, Joel Ortiz, took care of the animals while his friend recuperated in the hospital.

“He really doesn’t even have anything to steal. I’m just in shock that this happened,” Ortiz said. “I did peek in the ambulance as they were fixing to leave. I didn’t know it was even going on until I saw the ambulance and stuff here. Black eyes, all his teeth knocked out, beaten badly.”

Ortiz is worried that Tony could have a tough time paying his medical bills.

“As hard as his struggle is for somebody to come in and just take complete advantage of him when he doesn’t really have anything to take anyway,” Ortiz said. “And he`s the type of person if they would have asked, he would have just gave it to them. They didn`t have to beat him up like that for it.”

Police are reportedly looking for two teenagers in connection with the crime, The Inquistr  reported.
