We all do it. Singing along in the car. It helps the journey speed by and helps keeps us calm and peaceful even if it’s a really bad traffic day. Some people add to the enjoyment by recording their performances and sharing
That’s what happened for “World Down Syndrome Day”. A remarkable movement gained momentum when 50 everyday Moms and 50 everyday kids all recorded a carpool karaoke to the beautiful song, Christina Perri’s, “A Thousand Years”. The only thread connecting all these adorable little four-year-olds is one extra chromosome, the chromosome responsible for Down’s Syndrome.
The Moms and their little ones are in the front seat of their car singing along to the track, and the words are just perfect. The Moms are singing that they will love their children for a thousand years and more.
At the same time, they are performing hand movements in time with the music for their tots to copy and join in. The children’s reactions are so cute; they are enjoying the experience very much.
Motherhood is about raising and celebrating the child you have, not the child you thought you would have. It’s about understanding that he is precisely the person he is supposed to be and that, if you’re lucky, he might be the teacher who turns you into the person you are supposed to be.
The video was created by devoted mothers to show the world how amazing their children are and it has become an internet sensation. I think we can all agree they did a fantastic job. Watch and SHARE this excellent video.
